Keyframe

This week from the 5th of February to the 7th of February we had a series of talks in our college from people from the animation industry.

These talks were a great chance for us to get an insight into the animation industry and a great chance to get some questions answered regarding our industry report. For my industry report i am focusing on backgrounds, sadly there wasnt a background designer or artist speaking at keyframe but there was still some very helpful talks that i found very helpful writing my industry report.

Leon Elliot ,who is a production manager at Boulder Media, gave a talk about the 2d production pipeline, i found this very interesting for laying out my industry report because this way i was able to see exactly where in the pipeline the background department sits. Leon answered a question of mine regarding which departments the background department would work with, Leon answered saying that the background department fits in with the comp department to get the right fit of the backgrounds on the screen and also he said they work closely with the storyboard team to get the right look of the project and to keep a consistent style to the project.

Another talk i found very interesting was by Matteo Cecotti From Brown Bag Films. Matteo gave a very interesting talk about his experience working with Lucas films and Michael Bay and where he started in animation and how he became a director.

Keyframe was a great few days of talks as usual and gave me some great insights into the animation industry.
