Peter Mcverry animation, research

I've been looking at Japanese ink and water style animation, i think this style would work really nice between blending scenes into each other quickly.

I found a video on vimeo called CCTV ink which is the style I think i would like to try experiment with. https://vimeo.com/6794856
In one of the pieces of audio we received from the Peter Mcverry trust a man called Barry talks about spending 20 years in a jail cell and now he has his own home, I think using that audio i could start with a shot of the jail cell then using an ink reveal effect the background of the jail cell could turn into a house. I like the idea of having solid characters with a blended ink style in the background.

Professional practice

Professional Animation

For our professional animation project, we will be creating an animation for the Peter Mcverry trust. The Peter Mcverry trust is a charity organisation who work trying to fix Dublin's homelessness crisis. The Peter Mcverry trust was founded by father, Peter Mcverry in 1979 when he spotted a 9 year old boy sleeping rough on the streets, Peter Mcverry decided to help the young boy and other young boys sleeping rough in the streets by opening a homeless shelter for boys from the ages of 12 to 16. From then on the trust has grown and grown as they try to reach their goal of ending the homeless crisis in Dublin.

Myself and my class have been given an opportunity to help out the Peter Mcverry trust fund by helping promote the trust with an animation. We have been handed a few sets of audios compiling of a few men who have been supported by the fund in finally getting their own house and getting off the streets, with the audios we will make an original animation between 15 and 30 seconds long trying to bring more social notice to this homelessness epidemic the Peter Mcverry trust are trying to prevent.

Story Premise

Degree story premise

A balloon …who is tired of being held down gets released by a young boy.
The balloon proceeds to rise up and up until a gust of wind begins to set the tale of the balloon on and unknown path to discover itself and experience new surroundings. The gust of wind drags the balloon into a dark dreary forest full of overshadowing trees, the only light source is that of the full moon above beaming through the cracks in the tree’s reflecting off the fallen leaves on the floor, for the first time the balloon experiences fear. The balloon panics and begins to float further and further into the dark unknown forest. The light source begins to be overshadowed by a mountain laying at the depths of the forest.
The balloon then plucks up enough courage to proceed up this mountain wary of the unknown laying beyond. Once the balloon reaches the top of the mountain the fear he had felt quickly fades and turns into bewilderment the balloon gazes over an area covered in high buildings beaming with light and excitement, the balloon floats down into this busy built up city experiencing a range of new emotions and cultures, the balloon floats through the city enticed by its new surroundings.

Happiness overwhelms the balloon as he slowly drifts up along the skyline of the mesmerizing bright lights of the city and floats away into the night sky.
